Last March 12th 2015, 30 new motorbikes were introduced in Barcelona’s Local Police fleet for their regular missions. The ceremony took place in Barcelona municipality, represented by its mayor and BMW’s CEO.
BMW’s CEO highlighted:
“This is world’s first Police fleet that uses this motorbike’s model”
Barcelona’s urban guard project is committed to replace its 198 motorbikes by fully ecological models within the 4 coming years. As Xavier Trias stated: “this engagement will allow us to reduce annual gas expenses (12 175L / year) as well as decrease CO² emissions in the city,” since Barcelona wants to become a world reference model in sustainable mobility. The event is about 30 new motorbikes delivery which 26 are logo-equipped and others 4 will be used for service and patrol in the Eixample district of Barcelona City.
Federal Signal Vama has participated integrating all motorbikes’ lighting and electric system as well as speakers. Both parts have welcomed the finalization of such promising and unprecedented project.
